Camping around Heber Valley is a unique experience. There is practically unlimited camping in the Heber Valley area. Numerous developed Utah campgrounds offer everything from rustic to modern camping. Undeveloped camping is also available virtually anywhere on the National Forest, and many people car-camp along the hundreds of miles of dirt roads that access the backcountry.

This shady campground on the far end of Strawberry Reservoir's east branch is, like many Strawberry campgrounds, close to a marina and fish cleaning station.
There are a couple of nice day use areas close, one at Strawberry River and the other at Soldier Creek. A lovely shoreline trail will take you from here back to the main body of Strawberry Reservoir and Renegade Point.
1. From Heber City, take Hwy 40 east for 32 miles
2. At Forest Road 090 head south for five miles (one mile past Soldier Creek Dam)
Aspen Grove Campground

Tucked in the aspens on the banks of the reservoir is Currant Creek Campground. This large campground offers tent and trailer sites and is open from late May through October. Unique to this campground is one loop designated for campers with horses.
Currant Creek Reservoir is flanked by curious red rock formations and high country aspen. Each site in the loop has access to mangers, hitching rails, a loading ramp and miles of riding trails.
Don't miss the fishing on Currant Creek reservoir. The action is continuous from a boat or from shore. A boat ramp, fish cleaning station and a barrier-free fishing pier round out the fishing experience. A playground can be found in the campground when the kids are ready for a break from fishing. A short nature hike is also accessible from the campground and offers some delightful views of the reservoir and nearby red cliffs. Fly fishing is unbeatable on Currant Creek below the dam and the tributaries to the reservoir. Currant Creek Reservoir and Campground are accessible via a well-maintained gravel road from US Hwy 40 southeast of Heber City. Reservations are available by calling 1-877-444-6777.

2. Once at Currant Creek Junction, travel 17 miles on rough gravel road to campground

Deer Creek Reservoir lies in the southwest corner of beautiful Heber Valley and consistently provides some of Utah's finest fishing. The reservoir is well stocked with trout, perch, walleye, and smallmouth bass.
Warm water and predictable canyon winds make the reservoir extremely popular for boating, wind surfing, sunbathing, swimming, and sailboating. A sandy beach on the east shore of the reservoir makes Deer Creek a great way to spend a hot summer day! Two marinas provide boat rentals, gasoline, sundries and a restaurant. One campground has sites for tents and trailers and reservations can be made by calling 1-800-322-3770.

1. Travel east on I-80 to State Road 40 to US 189 until you reach the park

1. Take exit 275 off of I-15

Hailstone Campground is located on the west shore of the reservoir just off US Hwy 40 and offers every amenity imaginable.
Jordanelle Reservoir is located in a picturesque mountain setting just north of Heber City. The park offers an array of recreational opportunities near the Wasatch Mountains. Two recreation areas on the lake offer camping, picnicking, fishing, boating, water sports, swimming, hiking and mountain biking. The park is open year-round and reservations for the campgrounds can be made for the summer season by calling 1-800-322-3770.
Fishing for trout and smallmouth bass is unmatched on Jordanelle Reservoir. The reservoir is also popular for boating, waterskiing and jet-skis. At Hailstone, an 80-slip marina has utility hookups, fuel dispensing, a marina store and restaurant. Beaches and cabanas at Hailstone add to the experience. The nearby Provo River both above and below the reservoir offers superb fly fishing. A perimeter trail encircling the reservoir allows hikers, mountain bikers and other non-motorized trail users to connect with the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail which travels north to Park City and Coalville.

Little Deer Creek Campground for large groups is a small mountain campground in the higher elevations of the park with more primitive facilities.
This 22,000-acre park is poised on the east slope of the Wasatch Mountains near Midway, just West of Heber City. A USGA-sanctioned 27-hole golf course is the major attraction to the park. This par 72 course overlooks beautiful Heber Valley and has ten lakes located throughout tree-lined fairways. Special amenities include a full-service pro-shop, driving range, practice greens and a cafe.
This picturesque park offers two campgrounds and the chalet, a ranch style building for large groups, complete with kitchen facilities, a volleyball standard, baseball diamond, and its own picnic and camping area. For reservations at the chalet, call 1-800-322-3770. Pine Creek Campground is nestled in the low hills of the Wasatch Mountains. Sites with full or partial hookups are provided for trailers, and tents have a separate loop to themselves.
Wasatch Mountain State Park is a local favorite for horseback riding and offers great trails for hiking. The park accesses two of Utah's favorite scenic backcountry drives which are also popular with mountain bikers, Guardsman Pass road and the road to Cascade Springs. Just minutes from Heber City, set in scenic Daniels Canyon is Lodgepole Campground. Sites nestled among the trees can accommodate either tents or trailers.
Reservations are recommended for this popular campground by calling 1-877-444-6777. The camping season is from May through October.
Daniels Creek originates near the campground and is loaded with catchable pan-size trout. Two trailheads in the campground access the Foreman Trail, a scenic four-mile moderate hike that climbs through conifer and aspen forest to overlook Daniels Canyon and nearby Strawberry Reservoir. Lodgepole Campground is the perfect weekend getaway or week-long retreat!

Set on the banks of Mill Hollow Reservoir, this rustic campground is nestled in a peaceful, high mountain forest. Although sites can accommodate both tents or trailers, access is via a dirt road and the campground itself is not paved. The season is June through October and all sites are occupied on a first-come, first-served basis. Access this campground from scenic US Hwy 35 east of Heber.
The reservoir is stocked regularly and is a fishing favorite. Due to its small size, powerboats and motors are not permitted on the lake, but it is ideal for float tubes, small rafts, and canoes. Nearby streams also offer action packed fishing. A shoreline trail around the reservoir makes for a delightful evening stroll. For a longer hike, a 3-mile loop trail leaves the campground near site #17 and travels through thick spruce and fir forest. Walk quietly to catch a glimpse of wildlife that make their home in these woods. From the campground, numerous dirt roads access the upper elevations of the forest offering expansive ridgetop views and meadows thick with wildflowers.

Mill Hollow Campground

This sagebrush scattered campground is next to the Renegade boat ramp.
There's also a nice trail in this area, which runs to the eastern arm of Strawberry Reservoir or southward over Poison Ridge toward Big Springs.

Rock Cliff Campground is a primitive campground with walk-in campsites and fishing access to the Upper Provo River. This campground is located on the Provo River two miles west of Francis on State Route 32. The park is open year-round and reservations for the campgrounds can be made for the summer season by calling 1-800-322-3770.
