Within 22 minutes from Park City Main Street, and riding distance from Heber City and Midway, Dutch Hollow offers almost 20 miles of mountain biking trails near where ever you are. With so many trails in a wide variety of skill levels you could spend several hours traversing the mountain.
However, if you’re new to the sport of mountain biking you really need to give the Heber Valley Overlook trail a try. The trailhead for this ride starts right from the parking lot making it easy to find.
The Overlook trail is marked as a green, or easy, trail, and we would have to agree. It rises some 200 feet over the course of a half mile with the steepest parts of the trail probably the first 50 yards, and that’s not even that bad.
You’ll know you’re on the right path as the trail climbs to a fork turning to the south towards the Heber Valley. Don’t worry about getting lost, there are trail signs marking the path up to the Overlook. A large plaque sign posted in the ground and a small bench mark your arrival to the top of the Overlook.
Stop to take a moment to enjoy the panoramic views of the entire valley. You can see all of Midway, Heber, and Charleston from up top, and down towards Provo Canyon. If you have your phone on you take your own surround shot from the top.
From the plaque you could turn around to go back the way you can, but follow the trail as it heads back north along the backside of the Overlook Loop for a fun banking, downhill ride back towards the parking lot.
Heber Valley Overlook can be done in a half hour, but we suggest taking more time to take pictures, and even take a few different trails on your way back down.
