June is National Camping month and one of the best ways to create special memories with your loved ones is spending time in Wasatch Mountain State Park. Home to nearly 23,000 beautiful preserved acres, the park offers perfectly placed campgrounds in the heart of the majestic Heber Valley. Because the park is within an hour drive of both Salt Lake City and Provo, it is a convenient escape from the hustle and bustle of life into a realm of peace and tranquility with nature. In 1961 the state recognized the unique beauty of the area and set the land aside as a State Park. Wasatch Mountain State Park was proud host of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games at Soldier Hollow.

The atmosphere is perfect for families. The camping grounds include a fishing pond that is fully stocked every week so you can share in the memory of a child’s “first catch.” A beautiful playground is conveniently located so the kids can play while you barbeque on the outdoor grills. Horseback rides and ATV rentals are available so you may create experiences which will blossom into happy memories and last forever. There are bicycle paths as well as plenty of short and worthwhile hikes. If you get past the breathtaking views and fresh air, there is no shortage of activities. The Midway Crater at the Homestead and the Heber Valley Railroad are both a short drive away from the campgrounds.

There are 122 campsites available which can be occupied by tents or if preferred the campsites have all the hookups for your RV. The campsites have modern amenities such as restrooms and showers. Visitors come from all over the world to golf the surrounding courses.

There is something for everyone at Wasatch Mountain State Park. There are new experiences to have and memories to make. The only question is, who are you going to invite to camp with you? Call your old neighbors, talk to extended family, Facebook old friends, plan something with your nieces and nephews, or surprise your family – the important part is that you find the people important to you and invite them to participate with you in wonderful experiences. Don’t have just another weekend. Save your loved ones from going through the motions. Let Heber Valley put the color back into your life. The refreshed version of yourself begins with Wasatch Mountain State Park; See you soon.
