Everyone wants a little adventure in their life. Some adventures go to the extreme – like scaling sheer rock faces – and other adventures let you make it home in time for dinner. Midway Adventure Company understands the need to get outside to play and can outfit any experience level. They have many adventures ready to go from raft trips to horseback rides to ATV rides to bike excursions with a lot of everything in between.
The tour guide and outfitting business opened two years ago by Drew Jenkins. A Wasatch County native, Jenkins set his foot on the path toward owning his own business when he was 15. He wrangled a job working for The Bike Shop, a Heber City Main Street business. From there gathered experience working for bike and ski shops and guiding. He worked as a guide in places like Zion National Park and as a river guide on the Colorado and Green rivers.
Midway Adventure Company employs eight people. “We are a full service bike and ski shop and outdoors store,” Jenkins said. “A major part of our business is vacation packages and guided tours. We have some of the best prices around and a very experienced and knowledgeable staff. We have people on staff and advisers that have over 30 years in the outdoor business.”
Jenkins has turned what was once Midway’s F.O.E., into a cool place to hang out for the outdoor crowd. There is a full service specialty coffee bar, an outdoor patio, and a line of colorful bike cruisers lined up ready to be rented.
"I have been very lucky to grow up around this industry and get to work with some of the best in the business. I have received a lot of help and knowledge from past employers and companies like Dorel Industries which owns GT, Schwinn, Mongoose pro, and Cannondale bikes. I am really glad to be in my home town and able to share all the great outdoor activities with local and visitors. This has always been a dream and goal of mine since I can remember," Jenkins said.
He concluded, “Our goal is to be a destination for locals and visitors. We are excited to be on Midway Main Street and in the Heber Valley. We hope to grow with this area and mature into a store that everyone can come to for outdoor advice, equipment and fun times. Our biggest goal for the future is to work with local resorts to help build this area into a destination vacation area. And be a major player in the guiding and outfitting industry in northern Utah.”
