Every June, Heber City welcomes the Back to the 50’s Car Show to the Main Street Park. The show was here again last Saturday. This year was my first visit back to the car show since I was a little girl. My dad would take me down and we would walk around the park admiring his favorite Chevy’s, Ford’s and beautiful Mustang cars.
Back then it was just fun to be walking hand in hand with my dad. This time, I was holding hands with my 4 year old daughter filled with feelings of nostalgia as we wandered among rows of those old classic cars on a hot summer’s day.
We stopped and chatted with a few car owners; their personalities and characters seemed to match the cars they stood by. They would smile with knowing eyes and share stories of the painstaking hours of restoring old rust buckets into their current glory. Old cars made new again with chrome, authentic leather seats, and fire breathing paint.
I think I even heard the General Lee horn in the distance.
