Christmas time has its own spirit about it. Lights glimmering on trees, festive music playing every where you go, and even feelings of peace and goodwill toward others. This spirit captures the imaginations for youngsters as they eagerly await to give and receive gifts. While for mom and dad the spirit of the season is comes from somewhere deeper and infinite.

Capture both sides of the spirit of Christmas this season at some of the many events and activities going on this December.

Heber Valley Railroad North Pole Express – now until Dec 23

Journey to the North Pole to great Santa and Mrs. Claus aboard Utah’s only historic railroad. Join us for this family favorite tradition. The 90-minute roundtrip to the North Pole includes hot cocoa and Mrs. Claus' famous chocolate chip cookies.

You'll sing along to new and traditional Christmas favorites along the way and be entertained by our hosts, elves and chefs. When we reach the North Pole, Santa will join us for the return trip and greet each child and present them with a special gift.

An instant family tradition, the North Pole Express offers a first class, coach and private car options to suit your family’s needs and wishes.

Christmas Festival for the Children Dec 1 – 2

Come see over 100 glamorously decorated ginger bread houses up for sale on the auction block and all for a good cause. This local holiday event supports the Children's Justice Center serving families in Summit and Wasatch Counties. Enjoy Christmas entertainment throughout the weekend including free pictures with Santa on Saturday afternoon at the Wasatch County Events Center. This is a free event the whole family can enjoy. But just no licking the art work.

Interfaith Creche Exhibit Dec 1 – 4

Come feel of the true Spirit of Christmas as you view a spectacular collection of nativities from all over the world. The 17th Annual Interfaith Creche Exhibit at the Midway Community Center (next to the Midway Town Hall on Midway Main Street) will bring peace and joy to all that attend. December 1 - 4, Friday thru Monday from 11 am to 8 pm daily. Free Admission and wheelchair accessible.

The Great Christmas Adventure starting Dec 1 – Dec 23

Feel the warmth of the season while touring through our elf village. Build snowman, throw snowballs, and experience snow flurries - all indoors! Take "selfies" as you bounce, "elfercize," and practice the art of toy-making and cookie-baking with Santa's elves. Climb aboard The Elf Express Christmas train and journey to Santa's toy factory where you can help deliver presents to Santa's sleigh. Finally, take a flight on Santa's magic sleigh ride to the North Pole, visit with Santa, and shop for sweet treats and souvenirs in Mrs. Claus's Kitchen.

Messiah Sing in Dec 9 – 10

Enjoy the epic masterpiece of Handel’s Messiah as you become part of the performance. The Community Sing in of Handel's Messiah with Timpanogos Valley Orchestra and Chorus runs two nights on December 9th & 10th at 7:00 pm. Feel the true meaning of the season with music and song. Free Admission.

Breakfast with Santa Homestead Dec 16

Treat your kids to one of the most beloved holiday traditions with Breakfast with Santa at Simon's Restaurant at the beautiful Homestead Resort in Midway. Join Santa for a scrumptious breakfast feast. After breakfast Mrs.Claus will be decorating cookies in the Garden Room. Enjoy this fun family holiday tradition at Homestead Resort!

Zermatt Swiss Christmas Dec 14 – 16 

What happens when you combine the spirit of Christmas with the Swiss heritage of Midway? You get  the Zermatt Swiss Christmas!  Zermatt Swiss Christmas is a family-friendly event modeled after an Old European-Style Christmas Market. This outdoor Christmas market complete with Swiss and German Style Food will have booths and vendors from local shops to help you find that perfect Christmas gift, decoration, or ornament.  There will also be storytelling, gingerbread house building, cookie decorating, photos with Santa, music and more. Stick around for an evening concert with Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband.

Nutcraker Benefit performance Dece 16 and 18

Wasatch Dance Center presents a community performance of the Nutcracker, a timeless production. The show will take place at the Wasatch High School on December 16th with two performances, at 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Or join us for the Family Night Monday evening production on December 18th at 6 pm. Our annual Nutcracker production is both a showcase for budding, local talent and a fundraiser for The Children's Justice Center.
