Things to Do

Looking for something more than the haunted 5K and same old trunk-or-treat festivities? Go to the Heber Valley for some great Halloween fun. Check out some of the recommendations below.

Pumpkin Patch & Hay Maze

A hay maze, a pumpkin patch, local cheese curds, and ice cream… What more do you need?! Heber Valley Artisan Milk & Cheese is holding its annual pumpkin patch and hay maze onsite, along with its regular daily farm tours and retail store that sells locally made cheeses, cheese curds, and ice cream. Stop in for a fresh grilled cheese sandwich and cup of soup for lunch, then finish with some good ol’ Aggies ice cream for dessert. Food and fun all in one stop.

Additional “you pick” pumpkin patches are located throughout the valley in Heber, Midway, Charleston, and surrounding neighborhoods. The Francis Family Farms is located next to Heber Valley Artisan Cheese, and the Ranch Farms pumpkin patch carries over 30 varieties at this family-owned, self-service patch.

Ghoulish Treats

Our local confectioners have cooked up some delightful treats this Halloween season. The Cocoa Bird is doing an array of special holiday treats from hot chocolate bombs to special skull chocolates to flavorful caramels. The caramel apples are simply delightful at Pebbles & Drinks. Quench It Soda has a special drink of the month amid its robust menu offerings, and they sell the popular and locally made Suss cookies onsite too. The local Lee’s Marketplace is loved by all for its delicious donuts. This month, it is featuring a pumpkin spice donut along with its regular donut assortment. And the local coffee shops, such as the OG Café and Filler’Up Coffee Station, are serving up just about anything in a pumpkin flavor. So stop by any of these wonderful local shops for a sweet treat, ghoulish bite, or savory sip.

Spooky Train Rides

All aboard the Halloween Train where you will be greeted and entertained by the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus as they fly through the train cars mesmerizing riders with song and dance. But beware of the zombies who quickly find their way on board and roam the train looking for their next victim, only to be distracted when their favorite song “Thriller” comes on and they bust out their signature dance moves. Of course, costumes are highly encouraged, as is dancing and singing along to all of the popular Halloween songs. For the younger kids, there is the beloved Pumpkin Train where riders enjoy entertainment on the train while eating delicious pumpkin cookies. Guests then get to select a pumpkin from the onsite pumpkin patch. Equally fun is the Wizard’s Train themed after the infamous Harry Potter series. This fun train includes trivia questions, entertainment from costumed staff, and fun games while aboard. Book your tickets for these or any of the trains soon. They almost always sell out!
