Heber Valley Recreation: Abundant Year-round Adventure

The Wasatch Mountains are home to a variety of activities for both winter and summer fun. During the summer months you'll find trails for hiking and biking, lakes and rivers for fishing and boating, and forests for camping and exploring. Winter activities include world-class ski resorts in Park City, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice skating and ice fishing.

Strawberry Ridge

This lengthy 14-mile loop begins just south of the Strawberry Visitor Center on Clyde Creek Road, approximately 23 miles southeast of Heber City off US Hwy 40. Park at the corrals and climb Clyde Creek road to Strawberry Ridge.

Strawberry River

This pleasant dirt-road ride follows the flats along Strawberry River about 5 miles one-way. The route then climbs a rough road another 4 miles to a tiny reservoir surrounded by hillsides thick with wildflowers during mid-summer.

Strawberry Shoreline Trail

This ten mile trail traverses the west shore of Strawberry Reservoir from Mud Creek Bay to East Portal Bay. The terrain is primarily rolling hillsides and shoreline flats, with access to the reservoir along the length of the trail.

Strawberry Valley Streams

The lower Strawberry River, below Soldier Creek Dam, is a well-known fly-fishing destination. The river usually opens mid-July to artificial flies and lures and is stocked with brown, rainbow, cutthroat, and brook trout.

Thornton Hollow

The Thornton Hollow trail is an out-and-back trail that branches off Daniels Canyon and climbs to the ridge. A tiny stream follows Thornton Hollow and can be rolling in spring.
