Distances can be varied and the trail can be reached from several locations, including Strawberry Bay Campground for those spending a few days at the Reservoir.

Opportunities to view wildlife along this walk are some of the best in the area. Look for Strawberry's abundant variety of waterfowl and shorebirds on the reservoir, and keep an eye out for the occasional badger or squirrel along the hillsides near the trail. Stop in at the Strawberry Visitor Center just off US Hwy 40 to learn about wildlife along this trail and elsewhere in Strawberry Valley.
