Explore A Winter Wonderland - Go Heber Valley!

Think you know all about Heber Valley? Think again. This charming alpine town holds magical wintry surprises just waiting to be discovered. No trip is ever the same with the changing landscape and beauty that Mother Nature offers for each guest and each visit to the valley. Most everyone knows about Utah having "The Greatest Snow on Earth," and many of you know that Heber Valley is an ideal location to explore three of Utah's world-class resorts during your stay here: Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort in Park City, and Sundance Mountain Resort in Sundance, Utah. But do you know about ALL THE OTHER WINTER ACTIVITIES & ADVENTURES you can experience here? Explore some of the below activities and get up here to this winter wonderland already. We're so much more than just a ski destination!

Utah's Longest Snow Tubing Lanes

That's right! Heber Valley offers a gliding and sliding experience unlike anywhere else in the state. Visit Soldier Hollow Nordic Center this season for a family-friendly and group-appropriate outing. This snowy activity is ideal for all ages and all abilities and at any time of the day or night. Over 1,200-foot-long, expertly created tubing lanes are formed over the rolling hills at Soldier Hollow with stunning views of Heber Valley below. The magic carpet makes the return trip to the top quick and easy. Single riders or groups can connect tubes and glide down the frosty lanes while upbeat music plays across the hillside. Warm up with hot cocoa, have a snowball fight, capture the moment with selfies, and laugh at yourself and your loved ones. It's impossible not to have a great time snow tubing in Heber Valley.

Rev Up For A Great Time
Thousands! That's the number of open land acres we boast in Heber Valley. And hundreds! That's the number of trails. Wasatch County has some of Utah's best and most pristine open land for winter recreation. Our valley is the ideal destination for adrenaline-pumping fun when it comes to snowmobile heaven. Whether you want groomed trails or untracked isolation, snowmobiling opportunities abound in the Heber Valley. Go with a guide or go on your own. Wind through mountains and forests that open onto breathtaking meadows and scenic plateaus. If you're new to snowmobiling but still up for this motorized adventure, call on one of our many expert outfitters and guide companies. Going with an experienced guide can make all the difference and provide a safe and fun-filled day in the snow.

Strap On The Shoes & Get Out There

If non-motorized is more your speed, you've come to the best place for that too! Strap on those snowshoes and pick a trail amid the hundreds surrounding our valley floor. The best conditions exist in the early morning following a fresh snowstorm or while the snow falls for new tracks. Are you looking for something a bit more spectacular? Consider a full-moon snowshoe trek through the forested areas that envelop our mountain town. There is a special kind of magic in a full-moon snowshoe experience. It truly is a "must see it to believe it" experience. Visit our local outfitters to get equipped for an outing of snowshoe fun. They can also give you some excellent tips on local trails and unique spots to explore.

Carve Up The Ice
We're talking about ice skating, of course. With Utah's largest outdoor ice rink located in Midway, this locally-owned rink serves locals and guests for some outdoor fun atop the ice. Music plays on the sound system as skaters take laps, make turns, and practice their camel spins and axel jumps. Skaters can take a break and warm up with delicious hot chocolate as they watch others dance and glide across the rink.

Drop A Line
Are you looking for another type of fun on the ice? Once the lakes freeze over, locals flock to the reservoirs for leisure ice fishing and relaxation. Even those who aren't as excited about ice fishing find themselves enjoying the time exploring the frozen-over lakes. This unique experience is unlike any other wintry adventure. So, even if you don't plan to fish, we encourage you to pull into one of the three area reservoirs and walk out onto the frozen water surface. Look through the ice, feel the water temps, and be moved by the moment. It is a magical experience. And for any fly fishing enthusiasts, Heber Valley offers over 15 miles of prime river access to Blue-Ribbon streams known for prolific hatches of Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Smallmouth Bass, and Mountain Whitefish. A few hours of fly fishing along the snow-covered banks of the Provo River is rewarding for the soul, even if you don't catch a fish.

Let the Horses Do The Work
Cap off a magical winter stays in Heber Valley with an enchanting horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snowy terrain. These extraordinary creatures are amazing to watch pull a sleigh, wagon, or carriage through the snow. This fun activity is ideal for couples, families, or groups; this fun activity is great to add to an après-ski afternoon or before a nice dinner out. Bundle up, bring an extra blanket, and sip hot cocoa as these draft horses glide you. And for those of you feeling a bit more adventurous, you can book a snowy horseback ride instead. Yes – we do horseback rides all year long.
