Considered to be a national staple of the American diet...
The hamburger has become so much more than a common fast food menu item. We tried several burgers throughout town to see which burgers outdid the rest and came out as shining stars in Heber Valley. See below and let us know your favorites!
You don’t get much more local than two pastures away. The beef for all the burgers, meatloaf, chili, and steaks comes from cows raised next to the Back 40. Staying true to its mission of providing farm-to-table cuisine in a family-friendly setting, the local owners of Back 40 source their beef from the local Circle Bar Ranch, cheeses from Heber Valley Artisan Cheese, bread from a local bakery, spread from the local Pepperlane Products, and even the table salt from Redmond Real Salt located right here in Heber Valley. Talk about quality products. Try the famous Back 40 Burger which includes caramelized onions, pastrami, jalapeno bacon cheddar cheese, and a special sauce – you’re supporting lots of local businesses when you do so the calories should count less!
In addition to these impressive initiatives to use locally sourced products, the Back 40 owners have also been very thoughtful in their renovations, using local recycled or upcycled materials for much of their onsite enhancements and build-outs. The original building structure was the old ranch house from over 80 years ago. More on that can be found here.
Proudly serving our community for over 75 years, this local family-owned eatery is a favorite for many. Known as “Home of the Train,” Dairy Keen diners are greeted with a train-themed interior including a train that runs along the top of the walls throughout the seating area. Be sure to try the Train Burger and fries - it’s a local favorite with a quarter pound of beef, ham, Swiss and American cheeses, Thousand Island dressing, tomato, lettuce, and pickles, and the patties are made fresh daily. And save room for an over-the-top shake. With over 35 shake flavors plus additional toppings, sundaes, slushies, and sherbets, your sweet tooth will be more than satiated.
Located about 20 minutes southeast of downtown Heber City, the picturesque Daniels Summit Lodge and Lodge Pole Grill sit alongside Highway 40 and are a convenient stop on your way to Strawberry Reservoir or to explore the eastern region of Heber Valley. If looking for accommodations, this is a perfect lodge with an onsite restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If passing by, the cozy dining outlet is an ideal spot to fill up on your way. We suggest the Summit Burger with bacon and fries. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, then try the Avalanche Burger topped with pulled pork and a signature sauce, also served with fries (pictured here).
Come on... with a name like this, you know to expect great barbeque. And with that, a really great burger. The menu features items named "Hot Mess" which consists of a baked potato loaded with butter, choice of meat, cheese, bacon, onion, and southwestern ranch and "Goochy Sundae" offering a hearty portion of mac-n-cheese covered in choice of meat, bacon, onions, and BBQ ranch. Ribs, burgers, and combos are all part of the selection at this tasty dining outlet. Ask about the Grandaddy Burger!
Open for over 40 years, this local favorite is now a year-round restaurant serving up fresh burgers, fries, and thick shakes. May we suggest the Western Burger topped with 1/3 pound slow-smoked brisket, smoky bacon, and beer-battered onion rings? Or perhaps the Pastrami & Swiss Burger layered with hardwood smoked pastrami and melted Swiss cheese? And you definitely need to try one of its famous over the top ice cream shakes!
Originating as the first food truck in Heber Valley, Lola’s is so well-loved the owners were able to establish a permanent location on Midway Main Street. Served on a delicious potato roll using quality Angus beef, the burger, cheeseburger, jalapeno bacon burger, and blue moon burger (topped with Gorgonzola cheese) are all large-portion burgers made locally with a side of garlic parmesan fries. And if you’re looking to get really creative and try something different, then go for the margarita burger topped with sundried tomatoes, capers, fresh basil, and mozzarella cheese with a garlic aioli sauce. Good luck finishing the whole thing!!
Known for its “hearth to table” cooking style and selection of fresh, locally-sourced menu options, Midway Mercantile is a favorite restaurant for both locals and visitors. Using the local Midway’s Van Wagoner ground beef and locally produced Heber Valley Artisan Cheese, this gourmet burger is dressed with a sriracha aioli for a little kick in each bite. Served with house-made fries, of course!
A highly acclaimed and regular recipient of Utah's Best of State for “Local Burgers,” the OG Café is well-known and adored by many in Heber Valley. The extensive menu offers so much more than just coffee and pastries. The local owners have a love for smoked meats and hearty portions. Stop by for lunch seven days a week and try any one of the stacked half-pound burgers - using local beef from 01 Bar Ranch. We recommend the Pancho Villa with applewood smoked bacon, guacamole, special OG mayo, aged cheddar cheese, and jalapeno fries.
If venturing toward Soldier Hollow for golf, fishing, trail access, or off-roading, plan for lunch at Soldier Hollow Grill inside the clubhouse. The burgers are ground fresh onsite daily and the fries are cut fresh in the kitchen each day too. Aside from a traditional burger or cheeseburger, be a little adventurous and try the pastrami burger or the bacon and bleu burger. Add a side order of deep-fried pickles and you’re sure to get your fill and leave more than satisfied.
The eclectic menu at Spin Café is all about fresh ingredients and lots of flavors. The owners are passionate about providing quality food and a relaxed atmosphere. Conveniently located on Heber Main Street, stop by for lunch or dinner and try the Rock Mountain Bison Burger with bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. All burgers are ground in-house and served on a delicious potato roll with “Spinny Fries” or organic greens.
