Granny’s Drive In, a beloved institution in Heber City, has been serving up sky-high shakes and mouthwatering burgers for decades. Known for its nostalgic charm, delicious food, and welcoming atmosphere, Granny’s continues to be a must-visit stop for both locals and visitors alike. This month, the Heber Valley Chamber is proud to recognize Granny’s Drive In and its dedicated owner, Armando Quiñones, as the April 2025 Business of the Month for their contributions to the community and commitment to quality.  

Armando Quiñones took ownership of Granny’s Drive In in 2021 with the initial intention of entering commercial real estate. However, the opportunity to continue the legacy of this local eatery was too special to pass up. With the commercial real estate being part of the purchase agreement, the chance to run a business that has been a cherished part of Heber Valley’s culture was enough to convince him to take the leap into restaurant ownership. Over the past three years, Armando has not only maintained Granny’s rich tradition but has also expanded its reach, ensuring it remains a staple in the community.  

Granny’s Drive In continues to be best known for its thick, sky-high shakes and hearty burgers, crafted from a high-quality blend of short rib, brisket, and chuck meats. This focus on freshness and flavor has made Granny’s a go-to spot for those craving an old-fashioned and filling meal. Walking into Granny’s feels like stepping into a familiar and welcoming family gathering—just like sitting at your grandmother’s table, where you’re always welcome and well-fed.  

Historically, Granny’s was a seasonal establishment, operating primarily from May through early September, when summer tourists and warm weather brought crowds through the doors. Under Armando’s leadership, the business has seen notable growth, especially in the winter months when it had previously been closed. His decision to open the restaurant open year-round allowed him to better evaluate its long-term success and potential for expansion. Today, Granny’s employs up to 30 people during the peak summer season, providing valuable jobs for Heber Valley residents.  

But Granny’s Drive In isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a piece of Heber Valley’s history. The original home, built in the late 1800s, has undergone many renovations and additions over the years, but it still retains its classic charm. As the restaurant continues to grow, Armando remains committed to preserving its nostalgic essence while ensuring that every guest enjoys top-quality food and a welcoming experience.  

For Armando, Granny’s Drive In is more than just a business—it’s a place where stories are shared, memories are made, and connections are formed. He loves hearing from customers about their experiences in Heber Valley and the special moments they’ve enjoyed at Granny’s over the years.  

Beyond serving great food, Armando is passionate about supporting other local businesses and entrepreneurs. Being part of the Heber Valley Chamber has provided him with valuable networking opportunities, allowing him to learn about and support fellow business owners. He firmly believes that small and local businesses are the backbone of rural communities. His dedication to Heber Valley goes beyond business—it's about fostering a stronger, more connected community. One of the ways Armando gives back is through an annual toy drive in the winter, ensuring that local children and families receive extra holiday cheer.
