Last winter, they expanded their reach by opening a new location right here in Heber City—something that had been on their radar for years.

“Heber Valley has always been a place of interest for us,” shared Bobby, Area Manager for the new location. “It’s a great central hub for customers, close to incredible mountain terrain, and it’s home for many members of our team.”

With a region full of outdoor enthusiasts, families new to mountain sports, and a steady stream of visitors, the new shop fits a big need in the community. The Heber City store offers both new and used equipment, along with plenty of soft goods, so individuals and families can find the right gear at the right price.

Ski to Bike, and Everything in Between
This local shop is perfectly designed for a four-season destination like Heber Valley. In the winter, the shop transforms into a full-service ski hub specializing in both downhill and Nordic skiing. When summer arrives, it shifts into bike mode—offering bikes, maintenance, accessories, and even pickleball gear.

But what truly sets the store apart is its commitment to helping people feel confident stepping into a new sport, refreshing their gear, or simply learning about outdoor recreation in our area. Equipment can feel intimidating. Costs can be overwhelming. And many people don’t know where to begin. Bobby and his team take pride in removing those barriers.

“We get to sell fun for a living,” Bobby said with a smile. “Helping people get outside safely and comfortably is why we do this.”

Their flexible consignment program is another huge benefit, allowing customers to buy and sell gently used equipment so they can access quality gear without the sticker shock.

Deep Roots and Deeper Connections
Bobby, a Utah native, has spent nearly his entire life in the outdoors. He started working in recreation at rental shop up at Snowbird Resort and has now been with Switchback Sports for almost nine years. His love for skiing—both downhill and backcountry—along with mountain biking and fly fishing makes him a natural fit to lead the Heber City location. And he and his wife moved to Heber Valley just a year ago and immediately felt at home.

Earlier this year, Switchback Sports deepened its community involvement by partnering with the Wasatch High School mountain bike team, supporting the next generation of riders and fostering a love for outdoor recreation.
