December 2023 Business of the Month: Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs

Amy Francis, Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs, was nominated and has been honored with the prestigious Heber Valley Chamber Business of the Month award for December 2023. This recognition highlights the outstanding contributions of Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs to the local community and acknowledges the dedication to providing invaluable educational and therapeutic services through unique programs.

Amy and her husband moved to Utah in 2013 and officially launched Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs in 2019. The organization collaborates with other non-profit groups and operates a dog training company. The founders recognized the existing dog-loving community here in Heber Valley and identified a need for these unique services.

Founded by Amy Francis, Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs operates as a local non-profit organization based in the heart of the Wasatch Back community. The organization focuses on its mission to provide health, hope, and healing wherever there is a need in the community.

Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs stands out for its unwavering dedication to serving our community. The organization actively addresses the need for anti-bullying education and educates the public about different dog breeds. As an integral part of the Wasatch Back community, Amy and her team of certified dogs and their owners provide therapy services through various means, including a school reading program, incentive and reward programs featuring dogs in the classroom, and visits to area assisted living and nursing homes.

In addition to these regular programs, Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs extends outreach services with petting stations at events of all sizes. This not only brings joy to attendees but also creates opportunities for positive interactions with well-trained therapy dogs.

Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs actively involves the community in its mission. The team helps to certify new dog and owner teams every quarter, creating opportunities for individuals to become certified therapy dog owners. With a current roster of 20 active teams, Amy has created a noticeable positive impact along the Wasatch Back.

People passionate about making a difference can get involved with Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs in several ways. They can become certified therapy dog teams, directly contact the organization, volunteer at fundraising events, or contribute financially. Those who join as certified therapy dog teams are insured through Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs.

By fostering a love for dogs and community engagement, Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs and its dedicated volunteers continue to make a positive impact on the Wasatch Back community and beyond. As the December 2023 Heber Valley Chamber Business of the Month, Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs is celebrated for its commitment to building a healthier, more compassionate community through their innovative and impactful programs.
