June 2025 Business of the Month: Heber Valley Entertainment
The Heber Valley Chamber is proud to recognize Heber Valley Entertainment—owned and operated by Karyn and Steve Anderson—as our June 2025 Business of the Month. This recognition highlights the Andersons’ commitment to enriching the community through immersive, family-friendly entertainment and the thoughtful revitalization of two of Heber City’s historic Main Street theaters: The Ideal Playhouse and the Avon Theater.
Preserving the Past, Creating for the Future
The story of Heber Valley Entertainment is one of history, heart, and hometown pride. Originally opened in 1914, the Ideal Theatre was once a hub for live shows and community gatherings. When the Andersons purchased the building, the original stage had long been removed, and the space functioned solely as a movie theater. Determined to bring live entertainment back to the theatre in downtown Heber, they partnered with a local architect to restore the stage and carefully update the interior—preserving its historic charm while ensuring it could accommodate modern performances.
In its new life as The Ideal Playhouse, the venue now hosts live concerts, musicals, plays, and special themed weekends—like their popular Elvis tribute event, complete with an impersonator, live music, and classic films. When not hosting live productions, The Ideal Playhouse offers a mix of new and nostalgic films for the community to enjoy.
A Family-Run Labor of Love
Heber Valley Entertainment is truly a family affair. Karyn and Steve, along with their kids and extended family members, handle just about everything from show selection to tech production. Karyn, who has a background in law and special education, now focuses full-time on managing the theaters. Steve brings years of experience from the entertainment industry in Hollywood, leveraging his network to bring talented performers and a diverse lineup to the valley. Karyn’s brother serves as the technical director, and the whole family contributes to creating an immersive theater experience—from stunning visuals on screen to enhanced lighting and projections throughout the entire venue space.
Community Connection & Chamber Support
As active members of the Heber Valley Chamber, the Andersons say the support and exposure from their membership have been invaluable in promoting their shows and reaching new audiences. They’ve seen firsthand how the Chamber helps local businesses grow and connect with the broader community.
Beyond regular programming, both theaters are available for private rentals and events, including school functions, birthday parties, and corporate gatherings.
One of the Andersons’ latest community-focused initiatives is the Kid’s Clubhouse program, a summer Saturday event series happening each month for local youth that includes a family-friendly show and a healthy snack pack. They’re also bringing back retro kid's movies—low-cost, classic films designed to give families an affordable and fun day out.
Above all, Karyn and Steve are passionate about creating a welcoming, inclusive community space. From inspirational live performances to nostalgic movie nights, they strive to make both Heber Valley Entertainment theater venues a place where memories are made.
Rooted in Heber Valley
Longtime visitors turned full-time residents, Karyn and Steve have deep ties to the valley. Karyn has been coming to Heber since the 1970s, and Steve’s family has had a cabin here since the 1980s. After moving from Salt Lake over a decade ago, they proudly call Heber Valley home.
Congratulations to Heber Valley Entertainment, our June 2025 Business of the Month! Thank you for helping to preserve the heart of Main Street and bring world-class entertainment to our local stage.
