May 2023 Business of the Month: Spruce Personalized Decor
Jenn Mangum moved to Heber Valley a little over six years ago from the DC area where she spent 15+ years working in interior design. Shortly after relocating to the valley, she realized that she was going to the Wasatch Front for a lot of her business and personal needs. She set out to change that. Jenn purchased a historic home at the end of the quaint Midway Main Street and got to work on creating her business and storefront. Her vision was to provide high-quality and personalized home furnishings to residents and visitors while building relationships within the community.
The homesite she purchased is an original Midway home constructed in 1872. Jenn had a plan to preserve as much of the original structure as possible – seeing that the original home holds years of stories within its many walls. Preserving as much of the historical significance and charm as possible, much of the original building materials were protected and can be seen today in the final design – including the original hardwood floors and shiplap walls. The construction team even found historical artifacts which are now in a display case in the owner's studio. The renewal of this historic home created a central location and gem in the Midway community. Five years later, Jenn’s business - Spruce Personalized Decor - has served many in the valley and provides products and services locally that allow residents and visitors to spend dollars here and avoid leaving the valley.
When we spoke with Jenn about the growth in the community, her exuberant response was clearly in support of other small and locally-owned businesses moving into the area. Rather than seeing it as competition, Jenn recognizes the need for more shopping near and along Midway Main Street.
"It's great! People like to have more options," Jenn said. She went on to say that additional retail creates an inviting area for residents and visitors to stroll and spend more time. She sees that more stores help to diversify the shopping experience. Jenn also owns Kringles across the street. She calls this store a “happy place to visit year-round.” Midway is already such a magical destination, and it transforms into a dream-like Christmas town each year. Kringles is a great fit to keep that holiday magic alive throughout the year.
Jenn has a full team of professional interior designers and experienced assistants. She loves working with her team each day, but finds equal joy in helping customers find the ideal furnishings and décor for their personal space, office, or home. The customized approach and personalization experienced at Spruce Personalized Décor set Jenn’s business apart. And she wants to keep growing her services to further assist the community. Presently, she is in the midst of a major building enhancement. Once complete, she will have added a spacious barn with smaller designer office spaces and a warehouse to the west, boutique rental spaces on the main level, and an expansion on Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to allow for a sit-and-eat café experience. Her vision continues to grow and the local community is reaping the benefits with expanded services, more dining options, and even more boutique shopping spaces coming soon.
If you haven’t been to Spruce Personalized Décor (or if it’s been a while), stop by, say hi, and see the beautiful furnishings and décor offered. Jenn’s team also has a fabric wall and showroom so you can touch and see the material before making a decision. They offer full upholstery services (chairs, sofas, sectionals, headboards, bar stools, etc.), custom furniture options, and even striking patio sets. Jenn and her team love to meet locals and visitors, and they want to know how they can help you with your interior design needs.
