November 2023 Business of the Month: Wasatch Physical Therapy
We sat down with Dan Ivie, local owner of Wasatch Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, to learn more about his business and to award him with this month’s Heber Valley Chamber Business of the Month recognition.
Since opening in 2005, this esteemed business has been a cornerstone of the Heber Valley community for an impressive 18 years. Specializing in sports medicine and orthopedic therapy, Wasatch Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine consistently demonstrates a commitment to excellence and an unwavering dedication to the health and well-being of its clients in this community and beyond.
Dan Ivie's journey into physical therapy began in accounting school. While Dan was taking his injured friend to and from his physical therapy appointments and quickly fell in love with the wellness and physical therapy industry. This newfound interest made him switch degree programs, then led him to volunteer in Provo, eventually working with Willis Clyde, and ultimately establishing his own practice in Heber Valley. With a specialization in sports-related injuries, car accidents, and joint surgeries, Wasatch Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine has become a key element of recovery for those in the community seeking to regain their strength and mobility.
What sets this business apart is not only its exceptional expertise but also its genuine commitment to this valley. Since it opened, Wasatch Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine has expanded three times in Heber Valley to provide services for the increased demand. The staff takes pride in spending ample quality time with each patient, with sessions lasting 30 minutes or more on average. Their area reputation as "the guys that care" is a testament to their personalized and compassionate approach.
Notably, the business has adapted to the changing needs of the community, addressing the rise in injuries associated with mountain sports such as skiing and biking, along with the growing popularity of pickleball. Offering specialized strength training and agility classes for athletes and players of all levels, Wasatch Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine goes above and beyond to prevent injuries, emphasizing the importance of proactive care.
Beyond the clinic walls, Wasatch Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine actively contributes to the community that has supported it over the years. The owners are avid supporters of school sports and extracurricular activities and participate in school program fundraising. They created a unique training program that focuses on injury prevention and skill development for youth. In addition, the staff provides essential training on fall prevention for assisted living communities and teaches elderly and those with mobility issues how to stay fit and flexible as they age.
Dan’s family plays a critical role in the success of Wasatch Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. With two sons actively involved in the business operations and community outreach, and his wife handling billing, the Ivie family is fully involved and determined to provide important fitness and physical therapy services in Heber Valley. Also, over 30 employees contribute to the business's success, and Dan Ivie makes it a point to provide work opportunities for high school students, further enriching and positively influencing the students in our valley.
Wasatch Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine is more than a business; it's a pillar of health, support, and community engagement. We congratulate them on being awarded the Heber Valley Chamber Business of the Month, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the well-being of the community.
