Most people who grew up in Utah in the 1990s Karl Malone is a household name. He and John Stockton were two basketball legends that led the Utah Jazz to back-to-back NBA Finals appearances in 1997 and 1998. Today, Karl is known in the Heber Valley not only for his hard work on the court, but his hard work and compassion in the community.

After retiring from professional basketball Karl Malone ventured into business through a series of auto dealerships along the Wasatch Front. A few years ago Karl and a life longtime friend and Heber Valley resident Andy Madsen, had the opportunity to purchase a dealership here in town. Karl loved the area and decided to purchase Spencer’s Auto.

Over the past few months Karl Malone Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram has been undergoing an extensive expansion. Around the beginning of August this year the new showroom was completed, and the staff started moving over. Bill Hyde is the general manager at the dealership and has been on staff through the transition from Spencer’s Auto to Karl Malone and said from day one it’s been all about serving the customer and the community with Karl.

“Karl is a very genuine person who takes an active role in the business,” said Hyde. That same feeling of quality service plays into everything they have done at the dealership. They want their customers to have quality, friendly and caring experience each time they come in.

Even the new building was designed to improve the customer experience. Hyde said one of the features he really likes is the pull-up service area. In this area customers can drive up their vehicles into a covered space, so they don’t have to deal with poor weather.

New waiting areas are more comfortable, and even the sales staff area has improved to make the car buying process smoother.

Beyond the dealership Karl Malone has shown other investment into the Heber Valley through participation in many local events. An event that Hyde said is one of Karl’s favorite is the special needs rodeo that takes place every year saying he loves to be out there interacting and helping the kids.

Today, Karl Malone Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram employs 35 people and has had great success in the Heber Valley.
