September 2021 Business of the Month: Fish Heads Fly Shop
When you book a fly fishing trip with Fish Heads Fly Shop, you begin your day at the new fly fishing shop on Heber Main Street where you are greeted by your experienced local river guide. The guide will outfit you in Patagonia waders, boots, and a top-of-the-line rod and reel. You will then head to the river for a half-day or full-day of fishing bliss. Whether this is your first-time fly fishing, or if you are a seasoned angler, Fish Heads and its guides provide you with the best possible experience from start to finish.
Heber Valley Chamber is thrilled to have this local business in our community. The owners and their guides have a lot of pride in preserving open space and respecting the land. They are hyper aware of being good stewards of our valley and they share that knowledge with each guest they take out on the river. Their new shop, which opened earlier this year, allows for more space and taller ceiling height to showcase rods and the multitude of flies, reels, clothing, and accessories they offer at the retail location. They love to talk fishing with anyone and everyone from the avid fly fisher to a “never-ever” that is considering giving it a try. So, stop in, introduce yourself, and learn more about the unbelievable fly fishing we have that runs through our beautiful mountain town.
Ben Diamond, co-owner of the shop, shared with us his history and lifelong passion for fly fishing. A native Heber resident, Ben grew up fishing the Provo River when it was a straight irrigation canal – long before it was re-routed to carve through the valley. His fish stories go back to before the Provo River was known as a blue-ribbon stream. Today, Ben runs the shop during the busiest summer months, guides on the local Provo River, and gets out for his own leisure fishing when he can. During the slower times of the year, Ben travels abroad, leading saltwater fly fishing trips in some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the world. If you want to learn more about those excursions, stop by the shop or give him a call. When not fishing, Ben also enjoys golf and mountain biking.
