January 2026 Director's Letter

Recently I read something that has stuck with me and made me think of our Chamber. For those of you who were at the January Chamber Luncheon, I now remember the name of the book! In Tools of Titans the author Tim Ferris interviews many successful and influential people who are considered “Titans” in their industry. It’s a great book to pick up when you have a few minutes to yourself because each interview is quick and digestible.

In one section, Ferris makes the argument why giving what he calls “under the hood advice” is vital for our collective success. He says life is rarely a zero-sum game where if one person wins, others must lose. He has two core beliefs about this practice. First, the more he helps people with specifics, the more specific help he gets in return. Second, if there is competition, he knows that most people won’t want to try what he’s shared. Some will try, but won’t be as good as him.  Some try, and will be better than him, and will then share with him what they have learned. Leading back to his first belief.

This made me think of all of you, our Chamber members. There is so much talent in our business community. We have so much to learn from each other. I have seen time and time again at networking events, Chamber luncheons, and other community events where two members share their best ideas and both come away better. I think this is what makes our Chamber strong. Each of you is striving to learn more, but also willing to share what you know. I totally agree with Ferris’ notion that when we share our best thoughts and efforts it comes back to us tenfold.

As you go about 2026, attending different events, I encourage you to continue to give your best to each other. Share your “under the hood” skills and abilities. I am confident that as you do, you may inspire others to learn from what you know. Either they will say, “You know what? I should just hire you,” or they’ll come back with more detailed help for your next challenge.

Here’s to a great 2026, and I look forward to working with you all in your forthcoming success!
