Heber Valley is a great community. We are growing and getting better and better every day. There are many things that make us a stronger community, but one of my favorites is how our community shows up for one another. We had two great examples in the past two weeks.
First, we welcomed over 100 community volunteers for this year's July 4th Red, White, and Blue Festival. The Red, White, and Blue Fest would not have been successful without the help of volunteers from Heber Valley Rotary Club, Wasatch Community Foundation, Latinos In Action, Future Farmers of America, and the many community members who stepped in to serve. They showed up in a big way to keep our event running smoothly. I want to personally thank them for volunteering their time on a major holiday.
Second, at this week's Chamber Luncheon, our Chamber members showed up in a big way to help youth in our community who may be struggling with food insecurity. It is amazing and heartwarming to witness people caring for each other and giving their time and even financial contributions to help others in need here locally.
Heber Valley is a robust and increasingly more affluent community. Yet, we still have many school-aged children in our community who go home to empty pantries. I am filled with gratitude towards our businesses and residents who come together to provide help. To give back, the Chamber hosts a community service project each year during one of our regularly scheduled Chamber luncheons. This past Tuesday, we partnered with the Wasatch Community Foundation to create food kits for children so they have food over the summer weekend when other services aren't available.
These are just two of the many examples I could point to of the dedication, care, and compassion our community has toward each other. So, thank you, Heber Valley, for showing once again that community is about how we care for each other.
