May 2025 Director's Letter

Information precedes inspiration.

Many times, I notice that before a brilliant, or even average, idea can come, I need sufficient information. Seeing more perspectives and data also helps me to make better decisions.

This notion guided our last two Chamber events: first with the Wasatch Back Economic Summit, and then our recent “What’s Up in Wasatch” Chamber Luncheon. Both events were designed to give attendees quality information that would spark a moment of inspiration to do something new, bold, or prepare for what’s next.

At the Wasatch Back Economic Summit, presented by Zions Bank, our theme for the summit this year was “Embracing Understanding, Empowering our Future.” Our goal was to give attendees enough information to empower them to make the best decisions for their businesses. At the summit, we learned a lot from excellent keynote speakers and breakout presenters about what is on the horizon, some insights from historical context, and we even got a perspective on current political-economic strategies.

Even though the data isn't always rosy, I felt inspired by how our human ingenuity and creativity can solve complex issues. Get a second wind of inspiration by reviewing the presentations and listening to the recordings here.

I do want to express my profound gratitude to our sponsors and the efforts of the planning team. They really pulled off a great event.

Additionally, this past Tuesday, we held our “What’s Up in Wasatch” Chamber Luncheon. As our valley moves into the busy summer season, we invited community members, businesses, and civic leaders to share important information about things coming up in our valley that we should all know about. The idea was to give Chamber members an idea of when large
groups or events are coming, so they can make necessary business arrangements and determine how their business might support these events and initiatives taking place in the valley.

It is our hope that the information presented to our business community through the summit and luncheons will spark moments of inspiration that will help you step boldly into something new or prepare for what’s around the next corner.
