You may have heard of that old African proverb that says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” I love the idea that we are better when we work together, create partnerships, and unite under a common goal. That is why I feel strongly about the Chamber creating partnerships and working together with other organizations to address community and business needs. To that end, I want to encourage our local businesses to get involved with a couple of organizations. One is the Community Alliance for Main Street (CAMS) in Heber City, and the other is the Midway Business Alliance (MBA) in Midway. Both organizations have been great partners for the Chamber to accomplish our goals, and each is important for the communities they serve.
CAMS has been around for quite some time, nearly 20 years. It has ramped up and down as needed at different points in Heber City's history. The focus of CAMS is to advocate for, create, and enrich the downtown corridor of Heber City. CAMS plays a vital role in helping guide policy with elected officials and creating events along Main Street.
The Midway Business Alliance, in a very similar way to CAMS, is focused on the needs of Midway City businesses. Starting as a networking group, MBA has grown into an organization that plans and executes events in Midway downtown as a way to grow business along Midway Main Street. Additionally, they help represent a strong voice to Midway leadership.
Both of these groups are vital partners for the Chamber. Many times, the Chamber focuses on the big picture and valley-wide strategies in order to bring visitors to the valley and encourage residents to participate locally. Additionally, the Chamber looks for resources, training opportunities, and engages with policy discussions to help the entire valley. CAMS and MBA are highly focused organizations that address needs within their areas.
I encourage any business within the downtown corridors of Heber and Midway to get involved with CAMS and MBA. Engage by participating in events, offering feedback, and helping to plan the future of these commercial districts. I see the work of the Chamber, CAMS, and MBA going hand-in-hand to help all of us achieve more together.
