Fly Fishing

Throw the line out and see the fish fly through the water. With an estimated 3,500 to 4,000 fish in every mile of stream, you won’t have an excuse to go home empty handed! Enjoy over 15 miles of pristine Provo River angling access throughout Heber Valley with scenic mountain views that surround the valley floor. Reel in Brown Trout, Mountain Whitefish, and Rainbow Trout. Jordanelle Reservoir also offers the possibility of catching Kokanee Salmon, Smallmouth Bass, and Cutthroat Trout.

Make your perfect fishing fantasy a reality and turn your morning of fishing into a whole weekend, as Heber Valley offers the best camping, boating, and picnicking locations. Mix it up and take a hike to find the best overlook of the river from the top of the Wasatch Mountain range.

Do you really want to master the fishing skill in Heber Valley? Whether a beginner or seasoned fisher, local outfitters are a resource that can help you with the learning curve of the lure. Our preferred local outfitters are ORVIS-endorsed and experts when it comes to fishing in this valley.

We watch the avid angler, focus on the fish. In a moment it seems, the pole starts to pull, the fish fights and the frenzied feeling that brings excitement as the fish is scooped into the net. It’s bound to happen in Heber Valley and we can’t wait to hear your story.

The Provo River is one of many blue-ribbon stream locations in Heber Valley, along with Deer Creek Reservoir and Jordanelle Reservoir. The designation is provided by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and is given to indicate environmentally productive waters that sustain healthy fish populations.
