With support from both Heber Light & Power and Utah Clean Cities, our local municipalities have made the conscious investment to support Drive Electric Utah, a statewide program dedicated to increasing EV adoption, infrastructure development, and workplace charging. Part of this initiative is to further advance Smart Mobility in Utah’s rural and suburban communities. Drive Electric Utah is one of fourteen states partnered with Drive Electric USA which includes the Department of Energy, Vehicle Technologies Office, Clean Cities Program, Industry Leaders, Dealerships, and Energy Service Providers. The Utah Clean Cities Coalition exists to support organizations and fleets in their efforts to contribute to clean air by reducing vehicle emissions. Involvement in this coalition includes access to program grants, strategic planning tools, event and campaign partnerships, school curriculum materials, and incentives.
Heber Light & Power recognizes the need for continued diversity in power options and a progressive power grid system, as well as noting the increased number of electric vehicles being driven in our community. The addition of these charging stations allows for greater support for a clean air status, as well as becoming a destination for tourists driving electric vehicles and planning a multi-day road trip vacation.
The ribbon cutting took place at the two new EV charging stations located on the south side of the Heber City Police Station on 400 South and between Main Street and 100 East. Two parking stalls are labeled and dedicated to electric vehicles only for ease of access and convenience of charging electric vehicles.
