Snake Creek Canyon

These trails climb high into the mountains offering some spectacular views of Heber Valley and the rugged Wasatch Mountains. Several trails climb to the ridge, crossing onto the Uinta National Forest and accessing the Great Western Trail and American Fork Canyon.

The best way to experience Snake Creek Canyon is to spend a day exploring. Most trails are unmarked and may require some route-finding and cross-country riding, but the scenery is well worth it. Although these trails are unmaintained, heavy use by hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers make many of them easy to follow.

Trailhead access along Snake Creek road may be limited. Check in at the Wasatch Mountain State Park visitor center, the park entrance just off Homestead Drive in Midway, for maps and details on trails and parking (435-654-1791). To reach Snake Creek Canyon, turn left at the WMSP Visitor Center and follow the road past the golf course into the canyon.
