Wasatch Visitor Center Trail

This primitive trail climbs through oak and maples, making for a stunning fall hike when the colors along these foothills come alive. The trail ascends to the ridgeline where scenic views overlook Midway and the park golf course. Although the loop is only three miles, the hike is considered moderate to difficult due to a significant climb in elevation. Wildlife is common in this area and remember, moose always have the right-of-way!

Wasatch Mountain State Park

DIRECTIONS: From hwy 40 in Heber, go west on River Road. At the roundabout in Midway, go right on Burgi Ln and continue going west until you reach Homestead Dr. Here you turn right and head north for a few blocks, you will see the visitor's center (1281 N Warm Springs Rd Midway) on your right.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy to moderate

LENGTH: You could spend a few minutes on the trail, or hours following the loop to "The Crows Nest"

AVERAGE HIKE TIME: We took a group of kids and hiked the Spring Pond Loop in 2 hours

TRAIL USERS: Hikers, bikers (bikes for rent), and dogs

BEST OF TIME OF YEAR TO HIKE: Open all year long!

COST: you will have to pay $7 for a pass or use your Utah State Parks pass in order to park in the parking lot

TRAIL CONDITIONS: Wide, smooth Huber Grove Trail is good for all ages (even jogging strollers), other trails are narrow single track with rocks and roots in places

SUN EXPOSURE: A few trees provide shade but expect to be in full sun the majority of the hike

WATER: yes, drinking fountains at the visitors center. They also sell ice cream, popsicles, water, vitamin water, Gatorade, soda, Capri Sun, fruit leather, and fruit snacks!

RESTROOMS: yes, indoor restrooms in the visitors center and porta-pottys outside

WATCH FOR: a fun playground, picnic tables, apple harvesting in the fall, youth fishing club (June 14-July 19, stop at the visitor center for more info), camping, a beautiful golf course, and stop by the Homestead Resort to climb to the top of "The Crater" for free (with a view all the way to the bottom! Plus they have free concerts on their giant lawn in the summer!)
