The ride begins at Soapstone Pass, east of Woodland, on Forest Road #089. Park off the road near the pass and follow #089 east 4.5 miles to a “T” intersection. Turn left at the “T” onto Forest Road #174 toward Cold Springs. At approximately 8 miles into the ride, Trail Hollow Road forks to the right. This 3-mile out-and-back spur road is a strenuous climb to the bluffs overlooking the Duchesne River Valley and is well worth the few extra miles. To continue the loop, follow #174 to the junction with Forest Road #304. Turn left on #304 and follow it to Soapstone Road. Bear left again and climb Soapstone Road back to Soapstone Pass. The entire route is open to motor vehicles and ATVs. Several undeveloped campsites along the route make for a delightful overnight stay where you can ride right from camp.
