Things to Do

From boat dinner cruises to dining in a snow globe or even taking a short snowshoe trek up to experience a multiple course dinner in a winter yurt… Heber Valley has some truly unique dining experiences. And the service is among the finest you will experience anywhere in the world.

Ride the Funicular Up!
At St. Regis Deer Valley, guests can valet or self-park then be carried via funicular up to the opulent property with jaw-dropping views along the way up and at the top. Dine in either the enclosed restaurant Rime or, our favorite option, sit on the deck and enjoy the open fire pit as you take in the valley views below. During the winter season (Dec through mid-April), the staff offers a complimentary champagne sabering on the deck every afternoon. The whole experience is quite impressive and a perfect way to cap off a full day on the slopes or just enjoy a nice dinner out.

For those of you who may need to look up what a funicular is (we did the same thing!), let us save you the hassle of searching. This cable-style system has enclosed cars that are counterbalanced and sit atop the rails to glide up and down the mountainside, carrying passengers to and from the luxury property on the mountain peak. It definitely adds some extra pizzazz to the dining experience. https://www.gohebervalley.com/st-regis-deer-valley-hotel

Seafood Atop The Ski Resort
Ride up the Jordanelle Gondola at Deer Valley Resort for an impressive raw bar and seafood dining experience inside Rime. Open only during the winter ski season, this dining establishment offers a limited but well-loved menu. Specializing in oysters and lobster rolls, the Chef and owners live in Heber Valley and operate three different and unique eateries in the valley. Pair a local beer or glass of bubbles with a serving of oysters on the half shell and soak in the après-ski scene. https://www.rimerawbar.com/menu

Snowshoe Up, Dine In A Yurt
In addition to being a premier outfitter and guiding company in Heber Valley, Wilderness Access Outfitters offers a remarkable dining experience every winter season. A guided evening snowshoeing a half mile through the star-lit forest to a private yurt at Wasatch Mountain State Park. Dining guests are greeted by a warm and inviting staff inside the yurt. The culinary team prepares a private, 4-course meal while guests warm themselves next to an intimate fire or step outside for some stunning star gazing in this dark sky area. For a rare and special experience, this is a must during your winter stay! https://www.gohebervalley.com/WildernessAccessOutfitters

Dinner In A Snow Globe
Café Galleria in Midway recently added new globe dining pods to its outdoor patio seating during the winter season. These custom-built and high-end dining globes are encased in glass and fully climate controlled with a Bluetooth speaker inside, giving guests the option to create a more comfortable environment while they dine. For a nominal reservation fee, patrons can sit inside their very own snow globe structure and enjoy a meal among friends and family while the soft winter snow falls around them. It really is a magical and unique dining experience right here in the winter wonderland that is Heber Valley. https://www.gohebervalley.com/Cafe-Galleria

Guided Ice Fishing & Dinner Excursion
The Lakehouse at Deer Creek is really pushing the dining scene forward in Heber Valley. Recently remodeled and opened in summer 2021, the restaurant space and menu saw a total overhaul. The new Chef, who is a Utah native, brings in a sincere and deliberate approach to locally-sourced and sustainable cuisine, often foraging for wild foods and indigenous ingredients herself. Known for her house made pies, the inspiring menu is a robust offering of “Utah Heritage Cuisine.” New this winter season, The Lakehouse is embarking on a guided ice fishing experience where guests join an expert guide at Deer Creek Reservoir, return to their luxury lodging after a day on the ice, then get shuttled back to The Lakehouse for a custom dinner prepared using the guest’s same-day catch. This ice to hotel to dinner concept is a new offering for visitors in Heber Valley.  https://www.gohebervalley.com/Lakehouse_at_Deer_Creek

Lake Dinner Cruise
Along with the ice fishing experience mentioned above, The Lakehouse at Deer Creek is also looking forward to launching a lake boat dinner cruise offering in spring 2022. Using the new pontoon boats and larger vessels from the Deer Creek Island Resort rental shop, the restaurant is looking to offer a beautiful dining experience on the water at Deer Creek Reservoir. Seating will be limited to small groups and full buyouts will be available. Dine on the water at night and revel at the starry night sky as you enjoy the fresh menu items from The Lakehouse. We are really excited to see this experience launch next year!

 Chocolate Should Be A Ritual
With such huge success in the adjacent Park City market, Ritual Chocolate decided to expand and open a chocolate making facility, café, and private tasting room in the picturesque Heber Valley. Offering facility tours, ample seating to sample bars, sip lattes, and enjoy a little down time, the café is open daily. And guests can reserve the tasting room for small, private events. Learn all about the high-quality products and the intense process that goes into making the fine confections and craft chocolate, then try the tasting flight with a selection of three drinking chocolates or three chocolate bars. https://www.gohebervalley.com/RitualChocolate

Meet The Cows & Make The Cheese
At the family-owned Heber Valley Artisan Milk & Cheese dairy, visitors can book a farm tour to meet the happy cows and even pet the calves. The fully robotic milking system that is part of the tour is a fascinating use of modern-day technology for greater efficiencies at the dairy. The family offers monthly cheese making classes, including mozzarella and burrata, led by the farmer’s wife. Following a farm tour or cheese making class, guests can visit the store to purchase locally-made cheeses, cheese curds, ice cream, or soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. It’s always fun to see where your food comes from and this up-close-and-personal experience is just that! https://www.gohebervalley.com/Heber-Valley-Artisan_Cheese

Featured Vintner & Food Pairing Experience
The well-known Midway Mercantile is a historical site of the original mercantile shop. After many different owners and uses over the decades, the Platt family purchased the space and converted it into a neighborhood restaurant focused around bringing good food and good people together again – much the same as the vision of the original mercantile did in 1874. The visionary Chef and owner John Platt has started offering regular wine dinners featuring different vitners from across the country and pairing with a special night’s menu that complements the wine offerings. The most recent “Bubbles Dinner” was a huge success and sold out almost instantly. https://www.gohebervalley.com/MidwayMercantile

B&B With Award-Winning Cuisine
Stay and dine at this luxury lodging establishment, then awake to an extraordinary brunch experience. The Blue Boar Inn in Midway is a highly acclaimed restaurant and hotel in Heber Valley. It is one of Utah’s most venerable dining establishments that boasts the highest possible Zagat rating of 26 and has received Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence, along with multiple year-after-year medals for Best of State. This old-world European chateau is nestled in the foothills of Midway and offers 16 well-appointed and themed guest rooms. Known best as a romantic getaway for couples, Blue Boar Inn has a worldly charm that invites guests to unwind, indulge, and soak up every second of their experience. https://www.gohebervalley.com/Blue-Boar-Inn-and-Restaurant

 Lunch Along The Historic Railroad
All aboard the Historic Heber Valley Railroad for a leisure train ride along the pristine shores of Deer Creek Reservoir and into the stunning Provo Canyon. The train runs all year-round and features themed trains throughout the year. The beloved North Pole Express holiday train is happening November through December and will sell out quickly. For all train rides, a lunch or dinner option can be added to the excursion. This activity is ideal for kids and families. https://www.gohebervalley.com/Heber-Valley-Railroad-Attraction
