UDOT To Hold Public Meetings for EIS Transportation Alternatives

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will hold public meetings for conceptual alternatives identified as part of the Heber Valley Corridor Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Two public meetings, one virtual and one in-person, are scheduled for early October. During this phase of the EIS, the public is encouraged to review the conceptual alternatives and provide comments starting Oct. 5th. The public comment period will be open from Oct. 5th through Nov. 4th, 2021.

The Wasatch All-Road, a New Utah Gravel Race, is announced for August 28, 2021 in Heber City, Utah. The inaugural Wasatch All-Road Bicycle Race challenges athletes to a 100-mile or 35-mile gravel race in Utah’s hidden gem of Heber Valley. Registration is now open for the event, which will offer a $10,000 prize purse for top female and male contenders.

Six Community Projects Received Over $450,000 In Grant Funding

Heber City, Utah (May 20, 2021) — The Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation (OOR) announced its grant award recipients for 2021. With 135 total application submissions this year and a total of over $11.5 million requested, the Utah OOR Grant Advisory Committee was able to award $7.6 million to 99 projects in 23 Utah counties. Of those projects awarded, Wasatch County received a total of $453,535 for six area projects.

Wasatch County CARES Business Grant Open

In a collaboration between Wasatch County, Heber City, and Midway City, the Wasatch County CARES Business Grant Program is offered pursuant to funding received by Wasatch County through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). Funding will be made available to a limited number of businesses that meet specific requirements set by Wasatch County.

Luke Bodensteiner New Soldier Hollow General Manager

Industry Veteran, Luke Bodensteiner joins Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation (UOLF) as new Soldier Hollow General Manager and Chief of Sport Development. This position combines both the role of the currently vacant GM of Soldier Hollow Nordic Center position along with a desired “reinvestment” effort toward UOLF’s ongoing sport development interests. Luke Bodensteiner will oversee all aspects of the daily operation of the Nordic venue in the Heber Valley - from public programming to sport offerings in Nordic skiing and biathlon.

Heber City Main Street will be getting a boost of color this summer as the first steps of a commitment to revitalize and beautify the downtown corridor. On Wednesday, April 11, in conjunction with Heber City Mayor, Kelleen Potter, and the Heber Valley Chamber of Commerce, a group of business owners, concerned citizens and city staff gathered at the Heber Valley Chamber Office to launch the newly formed Main Street Beautification Committee.

Heber City announced the rebranding of the city’s municipal airport with a new logo that parallels the recently refreshed branding of Heber City, while providing an individual identity for the well-established airport. As part of the branding process, the airport’s name was simplified from the Heber City Municipal Airport to Heber Valley Airport in a nod to the airport’s origins when founded as Heber Valley Airport.

RTA expanding after years of rapid growth

For the past five years MIRO and RTA have been housed in the same facility. Nate Sargent, president and CEO, said it was a goal of theirs to someday have to split the companies into two different facilities. During the last year both companies grew by at least 25 percent, facilitating the need to expand. On April, 28, 2017, MIRO Industries and sister company Rooftop Anchor (RTA) will be expanding their production capabilities by acquiring an additional 22,000 square foot facility and the installation of new high tech equipment in Heber City.
