Heber City, UT (July 13, 2025) — The Wasatch County Library is proud to present Heber City: 100 Years (1925–2025), a curated photo exhibition celebrating a century of growth, change, and community in Heber City. On display from mid-July through September 2nd, 2025, this unique exhibit preserves and showcases the city's rich history through compelling historic and modern photographs. Many black and white images taken from 1930 - 1955 are from the George Strebel Photography Collection with thanks to the digitalization from Midway resident Jim Kohler and preserved by daughter Hilma Bellessa.
Organized in partnership with the Heber Historic Preservation Commission and the Heber City Community Alliance for Main Street, the exhibition highlights key landmarks, architectural evolution, cultural milestones, and defining moments that have shaped Heber City over the past ten decades. Each photograph is accompanied by a concise narrative, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the city’s transformation—from a rural town to a thriving community.
“This exhibit is more than just a collection of photos,” said Ron Carlile, Chairman of the Heber Historic Preservation Commission. “It’s a bridge between generations—an opportunity to honor our shared past while inspiring future stewardship of Heber City’s heritage.”
Exhibition highlights:
- Historic images of Main Street, local businesses, and community events
- Evolution of Heber City’s landscape and infrastructure
- Cultural and economic turning points across the century
- Personal stories and photographs contributed by local residents
In addition to the exhibition, the project encourages community engagement and contribution. Residents are invited to share personal photos, family stories, and written reflections about life in Heber City. These submissions will be incorporated into the exhibit and archived for future generations. The exhibition is made possible by dedicated volunteers and a supporting grant by Heber City TAP tax. Individuals, organizations, and businesses interested in supporting the project or sharing materials are encouraged to contact Rachel Kahler, Executive Director at Community Alliance for Main Street, or talk with Kate Mapp, Librarian at Wasatch County Library.
Heber City: 100 Years (1925–2025) is a visual and educational project designed to foster a deeper appreciation for Heber City’s past while connecting it to the present.
