HEBER VALLEY, UTAH (May 5, 2026)—One of the most unique and visually compelling sporting events in North America will take place in Heber Valley, Utah on May 22 - 25, 2026. The Soldier Hollow Classic Sheepdog Championship & Festival showcases the finest in working dogs and owners over Memorial Day weekend.

Originally established in 2003, the Soldier Hollow Classic has grown into a signature event, blending agricultural heritage with world-class sport in a setting shaped by the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, and future host site for the 2034 Winter Games.

“What makes this event exceptional is the setting and the level of competition,” said Dallin Koecher, Executive Director of Heber Valley Tourism, Chamber & Economic Development. “It gives visitors a rare opportunity to experience the heritage of the sport and caliber of a world-class competition in one place.”

Preliminary sheepdog trials are held Friday through Sunday beginning at 8:00 am, with the championship round concluding on Monday. Throughout the weekend, more than 300 Rambouillet sheep are herded by expertly trained dogs on the challenging, unfenced mountain terrain, creating an unpredictable and high-stakes competition.

The festival offers a full schedule of family-friendly programming, including live demonstrations, dog agility exhibitions, sheep shearing, educational experiences, and interactive activities for all ages. Food vendors, artisan booths, and additional entertainment round out the event, creating a well-balanced spectator experience.
