Utah Ice Castles Return to Midway with Some Surprises this Season

A Wintertime Favorite Returning to Midway, Utah with a new design and a soda bar

Midway, Utah | November 13, 2023 - Winter may still be a couple of months away, but construction has already started on the magical wintertime favorite, Ice Castles. Ice Castles at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center is returning with a new castle design featuring slides, caverns, tunnels, crawl spaces and new sculptures all made entirely from ice. This season the award-winning frozen attraction will debut a new ice soda bar powered by Quench It! This
season will also be enhanced with new lighting features, snow igloos, and horse-drawn sleigh wagon rides to complement the wintry experience.

"Utah is where all the magic started for Ice Castles years ago and we have so much love for Midway," said Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird. "This year we are excited to be debuting a new castle design along with a soda bar.”

Ice Castles typically opens in late December or early January, depending on the weather, and remains open typically to middle or late February depending on how the weather goes. It takes a team of about 20 ice artists to build the
experience using icicles that they grow, harvest, and hand-place one-by-one. The color-changing LED lights are embedded in ice, which create an enchanting illumination at night.

Peak season tickets will go on sale on the attraction’s website Wednesday, November 29 at 9:00 a.m. MT.

Ice Castles also has three other locations in New Hampshire, Minnesota, and Colorado, as well as two new Winter Realms locations in Wisconsin, and New York.

###

About Ice Castles:
Ice Castles has been bringing fairy tales to life since its inception in 2011. Founder Brent Christensen developed the patented process used to create Ice Castles while attempting to build a winter playground for his kids in the front yard of their home in Alpine, Utah. The project drew crowds who came out to tour Christensen’s frozen creation. Ice Castles has since turned into an  internationally renowned tourist attraction with multiple locations across North America.

About Winter Realms:
Winter Realms is a premier winter attraction that seamlessly blends the enchanting elements of the season into a captivating wonderland of lights, snow, and ice. Brought to you by the makers of the award-winning Ice Castles, Winter Realms celebrates the beauty of winter in a magical and family-friendly environment in two locations, Lake George, NY and Lake Geneva, WI.
