When you think of typical 4th of July festivities things like lots of outdoor activities, time with family and friends, food and of course fireworks come to mind. Well, the activities going on in the Heber Valley during the 4th include all those and more… In fact, we’ve got so much going on that we’ll keep you busy from sun up to well past down sun down!
The day starts off at 7am with a flag raising ceremony at the Midway Town Square. Doug Wright, from KSL Radio, will be the speaker.
Then join us over at the Heber Valley Railroad at 8am for the annual Freedom Train. There’ll be live entertainment on board and watermelon at the depot. Be sure to wear your red, white, and blue! (Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children, $5 for military Families—up to 10 people, veterans and military ride free.)
The festivities continue all day along Midway Main Street with art exhibits, free entrance into the Cowboy Museum, historical tours around the town, quilt shows and much more. For a complete listing of events, times and locations visit here.
If BBQ and old fashioned games are more your style, head over to the Homestead Resort and participate in their celebration with live jazz music, a hula hoop contest, old fashioned games and a grand finale of fireworks from the top of the Crater! Admission to the event is free, food is available for purchase.
Finish off the day with the famous Midway fireworks from atop Memorial Hill at 10pm. You can see them all over the valley but popular places to watch include along River Road or from the Midway Park.
However you decide to celebrate the holiday, be sure to have fun and stay safe!
