Things to Do

Here in the Heber valley we like to tout that we are “Utah’s Adventure Escape” (and it is!).  However, we know that not everyone is into hiking, biking, fishing, steer wrestling, ATV rides, or watching cars smash into one another (I consider this true beauty by the way…), but what people may not know is that Heber Valley also has a great art heritage.

From the Swiss architecture of Midway, to the old pioneer era homes and buildings of Heber, to the grand vistas and views that are memorialized in paintings and photographs, art is all around us. Many artists even come from all around to call Heber Valley home for the serenity and beauty of the area to help bolster their creative juices.

For you art lovers out there here is a day full of adventure that will leave you inspired and your creativity flowing, and remember there is art in AdvenTuRe!

Midway Gallery Tour –

Start the day with a drive to Midway Main Street. Take a stroll to the Edelweiss Gallery and Robert Duncan studio.  Each gallery offers a different style and approach to painting. You’ll be amazed at the steady-handed craftsmanship at their original art.

Edelweiss Gallery – This quaint little gallery has been an icon in Midway for several decades. You can enjoy the paints and sculptures in their comfortable store.

After your stroll through Midway you’re going to need a snack, why not try something unique and tastey? The Yobar Baking Co. bring the worlds of the southwest and the Czech together with their kolaches. With flavors ranging from fruit filled delights to something more meal worthy with flavors like cheeseburger, turkey and pepper jack, and so on, you’ll be able to find something delicious to satisfy your tastes! To sweeten your experience Yobar is offering a free sweet kolache when you mention this blog until the end of March. GIve them a try.

Create your own Art –

With all that inspiration you’ll want to try your hand at creating something beautiful. April James Interiors in Heber is a great place to flex your creative muscle by either participating in one of their workshops or by getting interior design ideas while browsing through their unique consignment selection. Workshops are by appointment and can be made by calling April at 801-798-7171.

Dinner at Spin Café –

A dinner plate is to a chef what a blank canvas is to an artist. A great place to experience classic food with a contemporary flair is Spin Café in Heber. After a day of art that inspires the eyes, and lifts the soul give let your taste buds experience the joys of creativity. Enjoy the warm atmosphere and even the unique sculptures as you munch on some spinny fries or polish off a cup of gelato ice cream.

An Evening at the Theater –

Cap off your day with the theatrical arts by attending a show at one of our two community theater companies in the Valley. Timpanogos Valley Theater in Heber City and High Valley Arts in Midway both provide great opportunities to get out and support the community and see a quality production at the same time. Learn more about their upcoming shows and workshops online.
