The weather looks like it's cooperating nicely to give us a beautiful Memorial Day weekend! Do you already have plans or are you still trying to figure out what to do? Personally, I’m counting down the hours until I can kick back, fire up the BBQ, grab a cold drink and have some fun!
And this weekend, Heber Valley is going to be quite the happening place. So if you’re still wondering what to do for the long weekend, come visit. We’re kicking the summer off in style.
If you’re looking for some good food with a little southern flair, don’t miss the Homestead Resort’s Crawfish Festival. The food will be fantastic—in addition to crawfish (of course!) there will be blue crab, beignets and even fried gator tails for you adventurous folks! Cost for the crawfish boil is $25/adult and $12/children 6-12. If you’ve already got dinner plans, or crawfish isn’t your style, be sure to at least stop by to enjoy the live New Orleans music (bonus, that part’s free!).
After the crawfish boil, stick around for the first Saturday night summer concert of the year. Concerts happen every Saturday throughout the summer on the Homestead lawn at 7pm. There is no better way to end a good meal than to relax on a picnic blanket and enjoy the mountain air and music. With different musicians every week, there's something for everyone. For a full concert schedule visit here.
If you’ve got kids to entertain, take them to Heber Valley Railroad’s event, Day Out with Thomas. Meet Sir Topham Hatt and take a ride around the valley with Thomas. And when you’re back at the depot there are plenty of activities to do—magic shows, music, storytelling and more. It’s a full, fun day for the family!
Then join us on Memorial Day for the 1st Heber Valley Memorial Day Program. A free breakfast will be served at 7am, followed by a program at 8am. It’s a great way to remember those veterans, past and present, who have given so much for all of us. Following the program will be a charity Memorial Run. Proceeds from the run will be used to build a dialysis center at Heber Valley Medical Center—the first along the Wasatch Back.
Whatever you decide to do and wherever you decide to go this weekend, be sure to enjoy the weather, have fun and be safe!
