13 Weeks of Summer Fun

Heber Valley has become a favorite escape for travelers looking to trade city heat for crisp mountain mornings, alpine lakes, fresh air, and cool evenings under the stars.

Unbeatable Access

Located less than an hour from Salt Lake City and just minutes from Park City, Heber Valley offers the kind of summer that still feels easygoing. Think boating in the morning, patio dining in the evening, live music on weekends, and enough outdoor adventure to fill every one of summer’s 13 weeks.

Whether you’re planning a quick weekend getaway or building your entire summer bucket list, here are some of the best ways to experience summer in Heber Valley.

Living the Lake Life

If there’s one thing that defines summer in Heber Valley, it’s time on the water.

The area’s reservoirs become a hub for boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, and beach days all summer long.

  • Jordanelle Reservoir: This is one of Utah’s most popular summer lakes for boating and paddleboarding. Calm morning water makes it ideal for paddleboarding and kayaking, while afternoons bring energy to the marina, beaches, and open water areas.

***Perfect pairing: Spend the morning on the lake, grab lunch in Midway, then finish the evening with live music or a scenic drive around the valley.

  • Deer Creek Reservoir: Offering one of the most scenic lake settings in Northern Utah, surrounded by mountain peaks and open valley views. Activities include: boating, jet skiing, paddleboarding, swimming, beach areas, fishing, ziplining, e-foiling, and the on-water aqua park.

***Tip: This is one of the more popular family recreation anchors in the region during summer.

  • Strawberry Reservoir:  Known for its fishing tales, this reservoir is one of the largest in the state and is a mecca for fishing. As a higher alititude lake, visitors and locals enjoy a quieter setting and quality time to connect in nature.

Other Water Activities

For travelers looking to cool off without spending the entire day at the lake, here are some of the area’s other classic summer experiences.

  • Tubing & Rafting: Float your way down Provo River through the captivating Provo Canyon. The cool mountain water will keep you refreshed the whole way down. Guided rafting tours and tube rentals make it easy and fun for all ages.
  • Blue-Ribbon Fly Fishing: Cast a line in the cool, clear waters of the Provo River. Whether you're a seasoned angler or trying it for the first time, this is fly fishing at its finest. Connect with a local outfitter and guide to ensure you make the most of your time on the river.
  • Mountain Saunas: With a bigger focus on adventure health and wellness, two new mountain sauna experiences are on both ends of Wasatch Mountain State Park. SoHo Saunas at Soldier Hollow on the south end and Wasatch Mountain Sauna by the State Park Visitor Center on the north end.

Plenty of Summer Events

Visitors return throughout the summer for the consistent lineup of events, markets, live entertainment, and festivals happening across the valley.

Dining & Lodging

Heber Valley is home to some of the finest award-winning cuisine and a true farm-to-table concept that is connected to our history as an agricultural town.

Add to that a large variety of lodging options from luxury resorts to nationally recognized brands to boutique bed and breakfast accommodations, plus lots and lots of camping, and this well-rounded destination is an easy pick for your summer adventure.

Easy to Reach. Hard to Believe.

Heber Valley combines mountain beauty, lake recreation, cooler temperatures, and small-town charm into one accessible summer destination.

Close enough for a spontaneous weekend trip, but enough to keep visitors returning all summer long. It’s easy to see why so many travelers make Heber Valley part of all 13 weeks of summer!

Make it a full summer visit! Check out the Trip Planner tool for a more custom itinerary for your next trip.
